International Women's Day has been marked for over 100 years and, in 2014, was celebrated on 8th March. It is a day when social, political and economic achievements of women are celebrated, while persisting problems of inequality are highlighted.

On one of the hottest days in September intrepid NQP rowers took to the water at the Docklands Sailing and Watersports Centre in support of the Back Up Trust (http://www.backuptrust.org.uk/home), a charity dedicated to helping those who have suffered a spinal cord injury. The Trust’s services include mentoring, wheelchair skills training and activity courses as well as support in getting back to work or school after an injury. Their aim is to build confidence and independence.
