Trust Registration Service Changes in 2026 – What Trustees Need to Know


Since 30 June 2026, the Trust Registration Service (TRS) has seen a series of significant changes, part of the government’s continued push to improve transparency whilst easing compliance burdens for trusts deemed lower risk.

Both UK and non-UK trusts are affected. As a result of these changes, some trusts will now need to register for the first time, whilst others may find they’re no longer required to remain on the Register. We’d encourage trustees to review their arrangements carefully to make sure they’re still meeting their obligations under the new rules.
